In a private forest of pine and oak trees, with junipers and strawberry trees, rosemary and oleander, a house on three independent levels, designed and built in the 60s by architect Luisa Castiglioni according to modernist standards, opens up to the view of the mouth of the Magra river. In the background, the splendid Apuan Alps, white with marble and snow.
The apartment on the second floor consists of: a large living room with a window that opens onto the panorama of the Apuan Alps and the river mouth, with a single sofa bed, a double bedroom with a small attached bathroom, a larger marble bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and a perfectly equipped kitchen area; A large terrace from which to enjoy the view and a shady area in the woods for hot days.
A staircase in the greenery, inside the property, leads down to the village of Bocca di Magra, the river and the sea, passing through the vegetable garden where tomatoes and lettuce, zucchini and fennel, lemons and apples are grown, and chickens are raised.
For guests who wish, it is possible to purchase seasonal products and eggs if available.
The house is only reachable on foot: you park in the area inside the property, near the vegetable garden, and through a hundred steps among the trees, you reach the house.
Bocca di Magra is a small village at the mouth of the river of the same name, within the Magra Natural Park, on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. This makes it an excellent base from which to explore the Ligurian coast of the Gulf of Poets (Tellaro, Fiascherino, Lerici, S. Terenzo, Portovenere) and the Cinque Terre. Destinations reachable both by land and by boat (also with private excursions).
On the Tuscan side, places of extraordinary cultural and landscape interest are: the Apuan Alps with its marble quarries, the Versilia coastal road (Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio), Lucca, Pisa (airport).
Sarzana, reachable in about fifteen minutes, is a good cultural destination (just remember the Festival of the Mind in early September), gastronomic (restaurants, pastry shops, local products).
