The currently most probable hypothesis is that the ancient Sherdana came from the eastern Mediterranean, settled in Sardinia and identified themselves as the Nuragic peoples who later attempted the conquest of Egypt. From ancient Mesopotamia to Egypt, the cultivation of vines and the practice of winemaking then spread throughout the central Mediterranean and from there to Europe thanks to the Roman Empire.
